How BITEBACK Pet works
A three-active plant blend — cedar oil 7% + lemongrass 2% + geraniol 1% — that repels ticks (including the lone star tick) and fleas before they latch. EPA 25(b) minimum-risk listed: no fipronil, no permethrin, no oral chew, no greasy spot-on. Reapply every 8 hours during exposure. -
Shipping & returns
Free US shipping on orders over $59. Standard delivery in 4–5 working days. 60-day money-back guarantee — try it through a full peak tick window. If it doesn't keep ticks off your dog or cat, send back what you didn't use for a full refund. -
Is it safe?
The blend is built to be safe for both dogs AND cats — no peppermint, no citronella, no tea tree, no high-phenol oils (the four most common cat-toxic naturals). Safe for healthy dogs and cats over 12 weeks of age. For puppies and kittens under 12 weeks, and for pregnant or nursing pets, check with your vet first. Always test on a small patch of fur before full application. -
Application by coat type
Short coats: spray from 6 inches and massage gently into the fur with your hand. Long or thick coats: spray more generously, then part the fur and work your fingers through to the skin — pay extra attention to ears, neck, belly, and paws. For cats: spray onto your hand first, then wipe — many cats dislike the spray sound.

What we protect your pet against
Three threats to your dog. One spray.

Deer ticks, brown dog ticks, lone star ticks — three vectors, multiple diseases, now established across the eastern US and into southern Canada. BITEBACK Pet shields against all of them with a single cedarwood-based blend that's safe for dogs AND cats — topical, non-systemic, never enters the bloodstream.
Canine Lyme Disease

Dogs are far more exposed than humans — paws, belly, ears, under the collar. Untreated canine Lyme can lead to chronic joint disease and kidney failure. The deer tick is now in every state east of the Rockies.
The Lone Star Tick

Spreading north and west — and biting dogs aggressively. STOPS LONE STAR TICK is the headline claim on the bottle, defended by 7% cedar oil, the EPA 25(b) plant active with documented tick-repellent and ovicidal activity.
Anaplasmosis, Babesiosis & More

Joint pain, fever, low platelets, lethargy — often missed until your dog stops eating. Plus Ehrlichiosis, Rocky Mountain spotted fever, Powassan. Same ticks, same season, same defense.
How it works
Spray. Massage. Reapply. Check.
-

Step 1
Spray
Hold the bottle 6 inches from the coat and spray. For cats — spray onto your hand first and then wipe; many cats dislike the spray sound.
-

Step 2
Massage
Massage gently into the fur with your hand so the blend reaches the skin. Avoid eyes, nose, mouth, and under-tail.
-

Step 3
Reapply
Every 8 hours during peak tick exposure. Reapply sooner after a swim or heavy rain.
-

Step 4
Tick check

What's inside
Three plant actives. One cat-safe blend.
7%Cedar Oil
Primary tick repellent + ovicide
Plant-derived from Texas cedar. Repels ticks and disrupts tick eggs. The same active that anchors the leading natural pet repellents — and safe for both dogs and cats at this concentration.
2%Lemongrass Oil
Secondary tick & flea repellent
Documented tick and flea repellent activity. Contains no citronellal — the citronella component that's toxic to cats — so the blend stays safe for multi-pet households.
1%Geraniol
Tertiary repellent · EPA 25(b) listed
Found naturally in geraniums and rose oil. Listed on the EPA's minimum-risk pesticide register. A blended-active formula resists tick adaptation better than a single active.
3%Aloe Vera Extract
Coat & skin conditioner
Soothes the coat and skin during application. Pairs with our water-based carrier to keep the finish light and non-greasy — no oily patch where you sprayed.
86.5%Plant-based carrier
Carrier base
Deionised water + vegetable glycerin + a plant-derived emulsifier and food-grade preservative. Water-based, leaves no oily residue on the coat.
EPA 25(b) minimum-risk pesticide. No peppermint, no citronella, no tea tree, no fipronil — nothing on the cat-toxic list.

Common questions
Asked & answered
Frontline, Seresto, or a Bravecto chew already keep ticks off my dog — why add another product?
Most chemical flea-and-tick products are designed to kill a tick AFTER it bites and ingests the medication. BITEBACK Pet is a topical layer that repels ticks before they latch — so they never get the chance to attach in the first place. Use it before walks, hikes, and yard time as a first line of defense, and keep your existing routine for baseline coverage. Many pet parents pair the two. See where the lone star tick lives now →
Is BITEBACK Pet really safe for cats?
Yes — the blend was built around cat safety. We use cedar oil (7%), lemongrass (2%), and geraniol (1%) and explicitly avoid the four naturals most often flagged as cat-toxic: peppermint, citronella, tea tree, and other high-phenol oils. Lemongrass is the citronella alternative our formulator chose precisely because it doesn't contain citronellal. Always test on a small patch of fur first and discontinue if you notice any irritation. For kittens under 12 weeks or pregnant cats, check with your vet first. Full guide: which tick spray ingredients are toxic to cats →
What about puppies, kittens, and pregnant or nursing pets?
Safe for healthy dogs and cats over 12 weeks of age. For puppies and kittens under 12 weeks, and for pregnant or nursing pets, talk to your vet before applying any topical repellent — ours included. When in doubt, ask.
Will it stain or grease up my dog's coat?
No. The blend is fast-drying and non-greasy — it won't leave a wet patch between the shoulder blades the way a chemical spot-on does, and it won't stain a light-coloured coat. The cedarwood scent fades within an hour or two of application.
Can I use it alongside a flea/tick collar or oral chew?
Generally yes — BITEBACK Pet is a topical wipe-on, so it doesn't interact with oral medications. If your dog is wearing a flea/tick collar, apply BITEBACK to the rest of the coat and avoid wiping directly under the collar where the collar's active is most concentrated. As always, if your pet has a sensitive skin history, ask your vet first.
How do I apply it to a long-haired or thick-coated dog?
Spray from 6 inches and use a more generous mist on a long or double coat — then part the fur in sections and massage the blend down to the skin with your hand, not just the topcoat. Pay extra attention to the ears, the collar line, the belly, the inner thighs, and between the toes. For double-coated breeds (Aussies, Goldens, Bernese, Huskies), section the coat as you would for a brush-out.
What if it doesn't work?
60-Day Tick Season Guarantee. Try it through a full peak tick window. If it doesn't keep ticks off your dog or cat, send back what you didn't use for a full refund — no questions, no return shipping.
